Librettist / Associate Director In Parenthesis
After reading English at Oxford, Emma began her career in opera working at English National Opera as a staff director. She worked in this capacity on over 20 productions as well as directing many revivals at ENO including The Force of Destiny, Figaro’s Wedding, Xerxes and The Pearl Fishers. She also directed the première of Mark Anthony Turnage’s The Country of the Blind (ENO at Aldeburgh and the QEH); Henze’s El Cimarron (ENO Studio); Figaro’s Wedding and The Barber of Seville (Grange Park Opera); The Threepenny Opera (Pimlico Opera) and Acis and Galatea (Iford Festival). Other stage adaptations with David Antrobus include Christopher Logue’s War Music for young people and schools.
