Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier have worked together since 1983 when they directed A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Opéra de Lyon. Their productions since include Lully’s Armide, Gluck’s La clemenza di Tito, Beethoven’s Leonore and Fidelio (Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Paris); The Nose, Werther (Opéra de Lausanne); Der Ring des Nibelungen, Wozzeck, Pelléas et Mélisande, Hamlet (Grand Théâtre, Geneva); Halévy’s Clari, Dalbavie’s Gesualdo, Rossini’s Mosè in Egitto, Le Comte Ory, Otello (Zurich); Maria Stuarda, La Cenerentola, Il turco in Italia, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Madama Butterfly, Hansel and Grete, Hamlet (The Royal Opera); Die Zauberflöte, The Makropulos Affair, Tosca, Falstaff, Il cappello di paglia di Firenze, Jenůfa, Bluebeard’s Castle (Angers-Nantes Opéra); Hamlet (Metropolitan Opera, New York); Die Zauberflöte (Vienna State Opera); Giulio Cesare in Egitto, Norma, Rossini’s Otello (Salzburg Festival). They have also directed productions for companies including WNO, Scottish Opera, Basel Oper, Opéra de Lille, Mariinsky Theatre, St Petersburg, New Israeli Opera, Opéra de Lyon, Vlaamse Opera and Bregenz Festival. Their awards include the Prix de la Critique (2012) for Jenůfa; a BAFTA award for WNO’s Mazepa; Best New Production Award (2013) at the International Opera Awards for Norma. Plans include Paisiello’s Il barbiere di Siviglia (Theater an der Wien); Iphigénie en Tauride (Salzburg Festival).
