Peter Wedd studied at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, with William McAlpine, and at the National Opera Studio. He was a Company Principal at the Royal Opera House, 1999-2001, where roles included Ywain Gawain and Kudrjas Kát’a Kabanová. At WNO his many roles have included Alfredo La traviata, Don José, Tamino The Magic Flute, Daland’s Steersman The Flying Dutchman and Don Ottavio Don Giovanni. Other UK engagements include Levko May Night, Florestan Fidelio (Garsington Opera); the Aldeburgh Festival; The Chevalier de la Force Les dialogues des Carmélites (English National Opera); Laca Klemeň Jenůfa (Glyndebourne on Tour); Don José (Opera North). Outside the UK, roles include Giasone Médée, Florestan (Nationale Reisopera); Albert Gregor The Makropoulos Case, Laca Klemeň (Opera Australia); Lensky Eugene Onegin (Bern Opera); and title role Lohengrin (WNO; Opera Narodowa). Concert engagements have included Beethoven’s Symphony No 9, now released on Avie (Manchester Camerata); Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde (Edinburgh International Festival). He has worked with orchestras including London Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, Royal Scottish National, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony and Netherlands Radio Philharmonic. Other recordings include Števa Jenůfa, Jacquino Fidelio, Daland’s Steersman, The Chevalier de la Force (Chandos). Future engagements include Laca Klemeň (Scottish Opera).
