Queen of the Night The Magic Flute

Samantha Hay studied at the Royal College of Music and Birmingham Conservatoire, where she won the Symphony Hall Recital Competition, the Reginald Vincent Lieder and Oratorio prizes. During autumn 2014 she sang Frasquita Carmen for WNO. In 2013/14 she performed the role of Queen of the Night for English Touring Opera and also covered Hecuba King PriamLa Modista Il cappello di paglia di Firenze (Wexford Opera Festival) and Pit Soprano in the UK staging premiere of Wagner Dream. Other roles for WNO include Zerlina Don Giovanni, Fünfzehnjahrige Lulu and Slave Salome, and the following cover roles: Musetta La bohème, Angel Jephtha, Alice Ford FalstaffEcho Ariadne auf Naxos, Karolka Jenu˚fa, and High Priestess Aida. Samantha has also worked on WNO Youth and Community productions touring to schools throughout the UK. Other operatic roles include Lucia The Rape of Lucretia (Opera Europe), First Lady The Magic Flute and Elsie Maynard The Yeomen of the Guard, Yum-Yum The Mikado and Josephine HMS Pinafore (D’Oyly Carte), Alice Dick Whittington, title role Princess Ida (Buxton Opera Festival). Recordings include the role of Bird for the world premiere of James Macmillan’s The Sacrifice. Samantha is also a regular soloist for a number of choral societies throughout the UK.
