Sian Meinir

Mezzo

Sian Meinir was born in Cheshire then raised in Gwynedd. Sian is a graduate of Bangor University and the Royal Academy of Music with Kenneth Bowen.

She was a member of the Royal Opera House Chorus before joining the WNO Chorus in 2003. She was recipient of the 2007 Susan Chilcott Award. Her highlights at WNO include Margaret Wozzeck, Enrichetta I Puritani, Annina La traviata, Kate Pinkerton Madam Butterfly, Iseult of the White Hands Le Vin herbé.

Outside of WNO Sian is an Eisteddfod Chair Poet; translates songs for the National Eisteddfod, and is a vocal tutor and a national Adjudicator.

Recent engagements: Old Woman of Bala in the world premiere of Wythnos yng Nghymru Fydd (Opra Cymru); a national tour of her one-woman show, Dream of Gerontius at St Asaph Cathedral; Ffatri Llais/Voice Factory one-day workshops across Wales.
