Welsh National Opera’s roots lie in members of the community coming together driven by their love of song. WNO Community Chorus welcomes adult amateur singers of all ages and backgrounds from across Wales (and over the border) to come and take part in operatic experiences with WNO and be part of our WNO community.
WNO Community Chorus is not a set group of singers; each WNO Community Chorus performance will have a new sign-up process. Recruitment will either be non-auditioned or auditioned depending on the nature of the final performance.

We are delighted to share with you four opportunities to get closer to WNO, join our Community Chorus and get a taste of our new rabble rousers season. You can enjoy the music, sing excerpts as part of WNO Community Chorus, find out more about the operas and watch a performance afterwards. These events are at Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff, and Venue Cymru, Llandudno, and are a real treat for all keen singers and opera fans, and an inside look at the workings of our world class opera company. At each of these sessions you can:
Led by WNO Community Chorus master, Kate Woolveridge, you are invited to explore the musical world of each opera in an accessible and engaging session that includes an introductory singing masterclass. It is suitable for both beginners and those with more experience, and offers a unique opportunity to sing together with members of the WNO Chorus.
Enjoy hearing an interpretation of the story of the opera, understand the characters and their roles, with insights from some of our cast and creative teams.
Have the chance to see our professionals up close in an informal setting as they perform excerpts from the opera, and hear the inside info on the production including a Q&A with company members from Welsh National Opera.
After each Taste of session you will have the opportunity to enjoy the opera performed by WNO at Wales Millennium Centre*.
