We are thrilled to announce our 2016/2017 season, which features a range of operatic delights from beloved classics, a hit-packed musical and some lesser-known gems, including a British Première. The season is now on general sale.
We begin our 2016/2017 season with a celebration of the world’s most famous playwright with autumn’s Shakespeare400 Season, which forms part of a nationwide commemoration of Shakespeare’s death.
WNO Artistic Director David Pountney said ‘It's a marvellous opportunity for us to bring together enormously varied works which Shakespeare’s works have inspired.’

To ring in the New Year, we offer Love’s Poisoned Chalice; a season dedicated to love’s darker side. As well as a take on tragic tale of Tristan and Isolde, WNO will be reviving two beloved productions.
Speaking of the season, David Pountney said ‘Love's Poisoned Chalice refers you very specifically to that famous drink that Tristan and Isolde drink, but it is also reflects the fact that in Madam Butterfly and La bohème love comes to a very bitter conclusion.'

‘In the Summer the time is right for a little dalliance in the warmer climate. We arrive at Vienna Vice. The title is a pun of Miami Vice, Vienna Vice is a bit more stylish and a bit less murderous,’ promised Pountney.
