Antony McDonald, Director and Designer of our new production of Lohengrin, has given his thoughts on Wagner’s opera and how it made him feel, and how Wagner made the world a completely different place. You can also read extracts of the interview below.
“'It is incredibly moving. It is very, very, very sad. There is just something extraordinary in this music that seeps into you.
Wagner isn't just a composer, he is a philosopher, he is a searcher and he searches inside himself.
He paints characters that are completely four dimensional. Good characters aren't completely good and bad characters aren't completely bad.”
